Brief facts about west wall:

The Western Wall, known in the West as the Wailing Wall, and in Islam as the Buraq Wall, is a portion of ancient limestone wall in the Old City of Jerusalem that forms part of the larger retaining wall of the hill known to Jews and Christians as the Temple Mount. The term Western Wall and its variations are either used in a narrow sense, for the section of the wall used for Jewish prayer, or in a broader sense, referring to the entire 488-metre-long retaining wall on the western side of the Temple Mount. Just over half the wall's total height, including its 17 courses located below street level, dates from the end of the Second Temple period, and is believed to have been begun by Herod the Great. The very large stone blocks of the lower courses are Herodian, the courses of medium-sized stones above them were added during the Umayyad period, while the small stones of the uppermost courses are of more recent date, especially from the Ottoman period.

Mughrabi Bridge - The Mughrabi Bridge is a wooden bridge connecting the Western Wall Plaza with the Mughrabi Gate of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Southern Wall - The Southern Wall is the retaining wall of the Temple Mount at the southern end. It was built during King Herod's expansion of the Temple Mount platform southward on to the Ophel.

Walls of Jerusalem - The Walls of Jerusalem surround the Old City of Jerusalem. In 1535, when Jerusalem was part of the Ottoman Empire, Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent ordered the ruined city walls to be rebuilt. The work took some four years, between 1537 and 1541.

Western Stone - The Western Stone is a monolithic ashlar forming part of the lower level of the Western Wall in Jerusalem. This largest stone in the Western Wall is visible within the Western Wall Tunnel. It is one of the largest building blocks in the world.

Western Wall camera - A Western Wall camera, also known as a wallcam, is a live webcam that displays action at the Western Wall live as it is taking place. Some cameras operate all the time. Others refrain from operating during Shabbat and Jewish holy days.

Western Wall Tunnel - The Western Wall Tunnel is a tunnel exposing the Western Wall slightly north from where the traditional, open-air prayer site ends and up to the Wall's northern end.
